As the African sky faded from amber to deep blue, a lone giraffe paused beneath the twisted silhouette of an ancient tree. For just a few fleeting moments, the balance between the two created a composition that felt almost sculptural—simple, quiet, and timeless.
Captured in the last light of day on a Sony A7R V paired with the Sony FE 70–200mm f/2.8 GM II, the telephoto compression brought the giraffe and tree into perfect harmony while isolating them against the vibrant sunset. The greatest challenge was timing: waiting for the giraffe to step into exactly the right position before the colour disappeared from the sky. Within minutes, the scene had dissolved into darkness.
